PEAK MOVING SEASON IS UPON US. KEY MOVING “TIPS” FROM HUMBOLDT STORAGE AND MOVING
CANTON, MA JULY 31, 2003 -- With “peak” moving season right around the corner, Humboldt Storage and Moving, the largest United Van Lines agent in the Greater Boston Area, shares a few friendly tips to help you prepare.
·
Since summer is “peak” moving season, try to be flexible about when you move. You may want to schedule prior to early.
·
When scheduling an agent to survey your household and prepare an estimate, be sure to specify the exact date you wish to move.
·
When the agent tours your home during an estimate, show him/her everything that is being moved.
·
Prepare for packing. If you are packing yourself, start collecting boxes, plastic containers, newspapers and Styrofoam or bubble wrap material ahead of time. Have everything packed in advance of moving day.
·
Get rid of all flammables such as cleaning fluids, aerosol cans and matches. Drain fuel from your lawn mower and any other machinery.
·
If you are moving antiques, you may want to get a written appraisal of antique items to verify their value. Never wax or polish wood furniture before a move as it softens the wood and makes it more vulnerable.
·
Be sure to unplug all electrical equipment such as TVs and computers at least 24-hours prior to the move so they are room temperature on moving day. If an appliance is still warm during the move, the retained heat could cause internal damage to the item.
D’Arcy Goldman, President of Humboldt Storage and Moving noted, “At Humboldt Storage and Moving, we believe that no two moves are the same. Our clients appreciate our customized, personal service and accurate estimates as well as our experienced crews who deliver everything in the same condition it was packed. And they won't leave until everything is exactly where you want it.”
